From Two Rings to One Stunning Diamond Band: Emily's Platinum Remodel Commission in Bristol
Bespoke jewellery commission | Platinum diamond eternity band | Ring remodelling Bristol

Not all jewellery that arrives at my Bristol workshop is broken beyond hope, but sometimes, starting fresh is the kindest thing I can do for a piece.
The Starting Point: A Dubai Dress Ring with Hidden Problems
When Emily first came to me at my Bristol workshop, she arrived with a ring. A white gold dress ring she'd bought on holiday in Dubai, full of sentimental value. The Dubai ring was beautiful in design, but as soon as I began examining it closely, the issues became clear. Several stones had already fallen out, and when I investigated further, I could see why. There were casting faults running through the metalwork, and the remaining stones simply weren't set securely enough to hold. I tried to work with what was there, but in good conscience, I couldn't return a ring to a client knowing it would lose more stones within months.
Sometimes, as a bespoke jeweller, the most honest thing you can do is start again. And that's exactly what I recommended.
Emily then arrived with her wedding ring. Her dream? To combine them both into a single, fully diamond-set platinum wedding band. It was an ambitious brief, and honestly, it took a lot of planning to consider the diamond layout, but the result was absolutely worth every careful hour.

The Challenge: Salvaging Diamonds from Two Very Different Rings
I had to carefully remove every diamond from both rings. This sounds straightforward, but it rarely is.
Some of the diamonds, unfortunately, were damaged and couldn't be reused. Others were in good condition, but here was the real puzzle: the stones were all different sizes. Not wildly so, but enough that you can't simply set them in a uniform row and call it done. Each stone needed to be assessed, measured, and given a specific place in the new design where it would sit beautifully alongside its neighbours without drawing attention to the variations.
Planning the layout took considerable time and thought. This is the kind of work that doesn't always show in the finished piece, and that's precisely the point. When it's done well, the ring simply looks right.
Adding to the Story: 14 New Diamonds
To complete the design and create the full, sparkling pattern Emily had imagined, I sourced and added 14 new diamonds. These were carefully chosen to complement the salvaged stones and fill in the gaps in the layout, building out a continuous band of diamonds that travels all the way around the ring.
The result is a truly bespoke platinum eternity-style wedding band, one that carries Emily's original diamonds within it, set alongside new stones, in a design that's entirely hers.

Why Commission a Bespoke Remodel?
Jewellery remodelling is one of the most personal commissions I work on here in Bristol. Rather than letting pieces sit unworn in a drawer, perhaps because they're damaged, outdated, or simply no longer feel like you, remodelling gives them an entirely new life.
Emily's rings told two different stories. Now they tell one.
If you have jewellery that means something to you but isn't quite right as it is, I'd love to chat about what might be possible. As a bespoke jeweller based in Bristol, I work with clients from across the city and beyond, taking the time to understand not just what you want, but why, and making sure the finished piece reflects that.
